History and Development

Since 2019, National Chi Nan University (NCNU) and Puli Christian Hospital (PCH) have collaborated through the “Puli-NCNU Industry-Academia Collaboration Program,” focusing on rural healthcare and long-term care issues, with fruitful research outcomes. In alignment with the university’s commitment to social responsibility, NCNU was approved by the Ministry of Education on August 27, 2022, to establish the Department of Nursing. The program aims to cultivate local and Indigenous nursing professionals, expand access to higher education, and address the shortage of healthcare and long-term care personnel in rural areas.

Building upon this foundation, NCNU and PCH further strengthened their partnership and officially established the College of Nursing and Health Welfare on August 1, 2023. The university provides comprehensive academic resources and facilities, while PCH serves as the primary teaching hospital, offering clinical faculty and professional training environments. Together, they have developed an integrated education model that balances theory and practice. The College is dedicated to cultivating nursing and health welfare professionals equipped with both expertise and humanistic care, while advancing interdisciplinary teaching and research.
